Dr. Omar Torres is a member of the Coordinator & Director Services Team at Grand River Solutions. Omar serves as a coordinator for both large and small public and private institutions across the country. He oversees institutional compliance, ensures a fair and equitable process, supervises and mentors professional staff, conducts trainings, revises policies and other relevant documentation, conducts outreach, and provides support to all parties engaging in the formal and informal grievance process. Additionally, Omar coordinates and facilitates Title VI and student conduct training. As a facilitator, he leads sessions including Title VI Fundamental and Intermediate training.
A fluent Spanish speaker and published scholar and educator, Omar has held senior leadership roles at Clark Atlanta University and SUNY Old Westbury, with a proven record of advancing student success initiatives and institutional resilience.
As a subject matter expert in student conduct, hazing prevention, and Title VI compliance, Omar brings extensive knowledge and strategic insight to navigating complex campus issues. In addition to expertise in student conduct and Title VI, Omar has significant experience providing support and technical guidance on Title IX and Clery Act compliance. Omar’s comprehensive approach to equal opportunity and campus safety ensures that institutions receive practical solutions tailored to their unique needs. Omar obtained his Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) from Northeastern University (Boston, MA), and his Master of Public Administration (MPA) and Bachelor of Arts (BA) from SUNY Albany (NY). Omar resides in the Atlanta metropolitan area with his beautiful wife, two children, and three fur babies.
