Katie Clifford is part of the Investigation, Hearing, & Appeal Services Team at Grand River Solutions. Katie also provides training and consulting services to clients.  

Katie joined the Grand River Solutions team with over 25 years of experience in educational legal consulting and a background in employment and labor litigation. Katie served as a legal consultant for public and private educational entities and provided proactive and preventative policy training, performed compliance policy audits and reviews, and served as an investigator for a wide array of civil rights complaints. Prior to serving as a legal consultant, Katie served as the Ohio Attorney General’s Education Section Chief and advised 53 Ohio public colleges and universities in that capacity. She also served in the Ohio Department of Education and oversaw all litigation for such institutions. In addition to her public law experience, Katie was employed by Means, Bichimer, Burkholder and Baker L.L.P. and served as legal counsel to 25 school districts in a wide array of litigation matters as general legal counsel.  

Katie possesses extensive experience in building and enhancing partnership and collaboration in areas of response, prevention, policy guidance, presentation and training, assessment practices, and coordination and management of civil rights investigations. Katie currently serves as a Columbus College of Art and Design Board Member and previously served as a Grandview Heights City School District Board Member from January 2010-January 2014.

Katie earned her bachelor’s degree from Miami University of Ohio and her Juris Doctorate from the Ohio State University. Katie resides in Columbus, Ohio with her spouse and three children.
