Amber Abud is part of the Investigation, Hearing & Appeal Services Team for Grand River Solutions.
Amber has more than 18 years of experience working in various roles within higher education. Amber previously served as Assistant Director and Title IX Coordinator for the University of Central Florda overseeing and conducting investigations for Title VI, Title VII, and Title IX, providing training, monitoring compliance, and helping facilitate supportive measure and pregnancy related accommodations. Amber also served as a Title IX Investigator with a focus on complaints related to sex-based misconduct, discrimination, and retaliation that involved students, staff and faculty. In that role, she conducted investigations, responded to inquiries, and provided community members with resources and explanations of their rights and options. Amber’s work also included conducting climate checks and collecting and monitoring data in response to reporting and auditing.
Amber also served in law enforcement, including her assignment as a Detective, focusing on sexual misconduct investigations employing the FETI technique. In addition to these roles, she trained staff and new officers and was a Crisis Intervention Officer/Coordinator, focusing on the recognition of persons who may be experiencing or in crisis. She is experienced in the utilization of de-escalation strategies, and she identified additional resources and referrals for the individual.
Amber received her master’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Central Florida. She received a second bachelor’s degree in anthropology and is a member of the Lambda Alpha National Anthropology Honor Society.
