David Krieger is New York University’s Inaugural Title VI Coordinator and Director of Programs.  He is also a Senior Advisor to NYU’s President.  As Title VI Coordinator, David is responsible for overseeing the University’s response to reported incidents of discrimination and harassment on the basis of race, color and national origin (including shared ancestry and ethnic characteristics.)  David oversees an office of seven full-time staff dedicated to Title VI-related work, including at all of NYU’s global sites and campuses.  David was appointed by New York Governor Kathy Hochul’s office to serve on an advisory committee to create a model training program and identify best practices pursuant to a first-in-the-nation state requirement that all New York State campuses have a Title VI Coordinator and annual training for students and employees.

Prior to joining NYU in March 2025, David served as a Senior Attorney at the United States Department of Education, Office for Civil Rights New York Regional Office since 2012, where he investigated and mediated novel and complex complaints brought under the federal statutes enforced by OCR, including Title VI, Title XI, Section 504, and the Americans with Disability Act.  After October 7, 2023, David was charged with developing and co-leading OCR’s national training program regarding Title VI shared ancestry discrimination in schools.

David previously was a labor and employment associate at the law firms Jones Day and K&L Gates.  He graduated magna cum laude from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland.
