Advisors play a critical role throughout the investigation and adjudication of Title IX matters. This training provides an overview of the role of a Title IX advisor as set forth in the May 2020 Final Title IX Regulations.Attendees will learn about the advisor’s role throughout each stage of the Title IX resolution process, from the filing of the formal complaint through the investigation, hearing, and appeal.

Join Grand River subject-matter experts for our two-part virtual training to ensure that you and your staff are well-trained on issues surrounding due process, sexual violence, and equitable hearing procedures. This training provides attendees with extensive knowledge and hands-on practice opportunities to feel confident in their ability to conduct hearings. Whether you are a Title IX Coordinator, hearing officer, hearing coordinator, or need to work through the intricacies of setting up and running a smooth hearing, this training is for you.
Facilitating Alternative Resolutions
Learn best practices and critical skills for conducting alternative resolutions.
Participants learn about the different types of resolution process and when to use which type, as well as useful techniques and strategies to conduct successful resolution processes. The training will also cover practical tips for conducting resolution processes impartially and how to avoid prejudgment, conflicts of interest, and bias as a facilitator of alternative resolutions. Facilitating Formal Resolutions includes the requirements under the May 2020 Title IX Regulations for facilitators of alternative resolution.
ABOUT OUR TRAINERS
Jody Shipper
Jody Shipper has conducted and overseen thousands of investigations, and lectures extensively at universities and conferences throughout the United States on Title IX and equity laws, institutional responsibilities, and the implementation of best practices. She has been working in the field of higher education, Title IX, Clery/VAWA, and employment law and has conducted workplace and academic investigations for more than twenty years.
Chantelle Cleary Botticelli
Chantelle Cleary Botticelli is a nationally recognized subject matter expert in Title IX and related fields with over 15 years of experience in the investigation and adjudication of sexual and interpersonal violence. She lectures extensively throughout the country on Title IX, the Violence Against Women Act, harassment, and the implementation of best and emerging strategies in the industry.
Martha Compton
A student conduct professional for over 20 years, Martha consults and trains nationally on Title IX and student conduct and has previously served as a technical trainer for Department of Justice VAWA campus grantees. Martha is a former President of the Association for Student Conduct Administration, has been a faculty member for ASCA’s Gehring Academy, and was part of the core team that developed ASCA’s Sexual Misconduct Institute.
Darci Heroy
Darci is an experienced hearing officer, investigator, and senior administrator who has performed and overseen hundreds of complex hearings and investigations. Darci has delivered hundreds of hours of live training, presentations and draws on her former experience as an Assistant Vice President, Title IX Coordinator, and Chief Civil Rights Officer. She has coordinated all aspects of campus-wide responses, including crisis management, threat assessment, media inquiries, high-profile incident response, and collaborative restructuring of programs and policies.
Pari Le Golchehreh
Pari Le Golchehreh has extensive experience in Title IX and Equity work on college campuses. Prior to joining Grand River, Pari served as the Equity and Title IX Office’s Lead Investigator at California Institute of Technology where she developed a deep expertise in leading investigations, trained campus community members, and facilitated mediated conversations and remedy-based resolutions. Pari is a certified mediator, and is skilled in aiding parties to resolve disputes in a trauma informed and collaborative manner.
Kateeka J. Harris
Kateeka J. Harris has nearly two decades of experience in higher education at four year and two-year colleges and universities including Title IX compliance, student conduct, multicultural program administration, and undergraduate admissions. Kateeka is a nationally recognized expert in Student Conduct and Title IX Administration and has held leadership positions within the Association for Student Conduct Administration, including President.
Andrea Stagg
Andrea Stagg joins Grand River Solutions as Director of Consulting Services with extensive experience in higher education in-house legal settings at public and private colleges and universities. In this role, Andrea oversees the Consulting Services of Grand River Solutions. This includes Title IX and equity support, audits and compliance reviews, athletics consulting, accessibility and disability compliance, DEI initiatives, and Clery Act compliance solutions.
Adam Wolkoff
Adam has designed and delivered live and virtual training programs for thousands of higher education professionals on how to conduct investigations and adjudications that meet and exceed the requirements of due process, Title IX, and the Clery Act. Adam developed a first-of-its-kind casebook of student conduct and Title IX decisions, drafted model policies, templates, and guidance documents, and was co-editor of the Joint Guidance on Federal Title IX Regulations in 2020.
Jessica Brown
Jessica Brown has extensive experience in equity, Title IX, and Section 504 work. She is an experienced investigator having conducted and overseen various campus-wide prevention education and policy development efforts, including development and management of Sexual Misconduct, Sexual Harassment, and Section 504 grievance policies and processes from intake and investigation through resolution.
Ann James
Dr. Ann James has wide ranging experience and expertise. She has more than two decades of experience in crisis management, leading institutional efforts in Title IX and gender equity compliance, student conduct, and facilitating institutional leadership transitions within higher education. Ann is a skilled trainer, fusing her professional experience with compliance and best practice to provide practical examples and engaging content.
Emma Hempel
Emma Hempel serves as a Title IX Coordinator for campuses across the country. With over ten years of experience in the field of higher education, she previously served as the Title IX Coordinator at the State University of New York at New Paltz. In her previous role, she conducted all Title IX intakes for survivors of sexual and interpersonal violence. She developed and implemented a variety of trainings and workshop on topics including sexual violence prevention, sexual harassment, bystander intervention, and access and community.
