Katon Dalton
Title IX & Civil Rights Investigator, Hearing Officer
Katon Dalton joins Grand River Solutions, Inc. as a Senior Solutions Specialist with more than ten years of experience in higher education, having served in a variety of leadership positions in Student Affairs and Human Resources. At his previous state university, Dalton served as the inaugural Equity Programs and Compliance Manager where he played a pivotal and foundational role in ensuring the university’s full compliance with all Title IX, Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act mandates, and Clery Act regulations. Under his coordination and direct service, the university expanded their outreach and training efforts, enhanced investigation and intervention processes and protocols, and improved timeliness and consistency in responses. During his tenure, the work became fully institutionalized and became a part of university culture.
Katon has conducted and overseen numerous discrimination, harassment, and retaliation investigations involving students, staff, and faculty, requiring a cogent and compelling analysis in support of any conclusions. He has also led developing university responses to help bring resolution to external agency complaints filed through the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Office of Civil Rights, and Department of Fair Employment and Housing.
Katon prides himself as a kind, ethical, and compassionate individual who is deeply committed to the values of equity and inclusion, and being respected and well-regarded for his capacity to be multi-partial, fair, and dedicated to due process. In his free time, he enjoys dancing Argentine tango and contemplating how the lead-follow interchange in dance can inform our personal and professional relationship dynamics.
Katon earned his bachelor’s and master’s degree in International Relations from SF State, and his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of San Francisco.
