Katie Clifford

Title IX Investigator

Katie Clifford is a Senior Solutions Specialist at Grand River Solutions. She previously serves as a legal consultant for educational entities and provided consulting to public and private institutions on a wide array of state and federal compliance issues involving: Sexual Misconduct and Harassment (Title IX), Americans with Disability Act and Disability Issues, FERPA, Risk Management and Liability Issues, Student Discipline and Campus Conduct, and Employment Issues. Clifford provided entities proactive and preventative policy training, performed compliance policy audits and reviews, and served as an investigator for a wide array of civil rights complaints. Prior to opening her own consulting business, Ms. Clifford served as the Ohio Attorney General’s Education Section Chief. As Chief of the Education Section, Ms. Clifford advised fifty-three Ohio public colleges and universities, the Ohio Department of Education and oversaw all litigation for such institutions. Ms. Clifford also served as Assistant Chief Legal Counsel for the Auditor of State’s Office. As Assistant Chief Legal Counsel, Ms. Clifford advised public entities on Ohio Sunshine laws, public finance laws, and advised the Auditor of State’s Office on internal employment matters. In addition to her government service, Ms. Clifford was employed by Means, Bichimer, Burkholder and Baker L.L.P. and served as legal counsel to school districts throughout the State of Ohio. Ms. Clifford represented over twenty-five K-12 educational districts in a wide array of litigation matters and general legal counsel. Finally, prior to her legal career Ms. Clifford was employed by the Governor of Illinois as a Legislative Assistant on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C.

Ms. Clifford served as a Grandview Heights City School District Board Member from January 2010 – January 2014. Additionally, Ms. Clifford served on Junior League of Columbus’s Board of Directors as their V.P. for Community Service. She received her undergraduate degree from Miami University, Ohio in 1995 and her Juris Doctorate degree from The Ohio State University College of Law in 1999. Ms. Clifford is admitted to practice law in the State of Ohio, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
