Karen Nutter
Senior Editor & Education Solutions Specialist
Karen Nutter is a Senior Solutions Specialist for Grand River Solutions. She previously served as a senior complaint investigator conducting high-level, sensitive investigations involving university leadership, faculty, staff, and students. She has extensive training in best practices in conducting workplace investigations, and strong knowledge of both trauma-informed practices as well as fundamental fairness and due process obligations.
Karen was also the senior legal editor at Continuing Education of the Bar, a nonprofit program of the University of California that provides the California legal community with innovative resources and practice-oriented tools. She researched cases, statutes, and regulations, and composed case summaries for publication. Karen also spent more than three years as a trial attorney for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) in Phoenix, AZ and Los Angeles, CA where she conducted all aspects of pre-trial litigation including researching often-complex procedural and substantive issues, writing and responding to motions, propounding and responding to written discovery, taking and defending depositions, representing the EEOC in federal court hearings, and negotiating settlements.
Karen received her bachelor’s degree from Grinnell College and her J.D. from the University of Southern California Law School. She has written on the EEOC administrative process, and domestic violence and women with disabilities.
