Dawn Barker Floyd

Title IX Coordinator & EEO Director Services

Dawn Floyd is a Senior Solutions Specialist with more than 25 years of law, compliance, and equity experience in private law practice and at public and private colleges and universities. She previously served as the Director of Compliance & as Title IX Coordinator at Lenoir-Rhyne University. In these roles, Dawn was responsible for implementation and oversight of university compliance and Title IX at three campuses in two states. Dawn also previously served as the Title IX Coordinator at UNC-Charlotte.

Dawn has extensive experience in higher education policy development, compliance audits and reviews, civil rights investigations for discrimination and retaliation, disciplinary hearings, facilitation of informal resolutions, and training on Title IX and the Clery Act for students, faculty, staff, board members, and other higher education professionals. Dawn has also successfully managed university responses to federal and state investigations and audits. Through these experiences, Dawn has collaborated with many campus partners including Student Life, Human Resources, Athletics, Public Safety, Disability Services, Academic Affairs, Institutional Research and Assessment, Student Support and Wellness, and Legal Affairs.

Dawn has Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from Appalachian State University. Dawn began her career in higher education working in the areas of residence life, student development, new student orientation, and international student advising. Prior to returning to higher education in 2014, Dawn received a J.D. from the City University of New York School of Law and spent ten years practicing law as an associate at private law firms in New York City and Charlotte.

Dawn is a published author and likes to write in her spare time. Dawn lives in North Carolina with her husband and children.
