Amber Abud

Title IX & Civil Rights Investigator

Amber Abud is a Title IX and Civil Rights Investigator at Grand River Solutions with over 15 years working in higher education in an investigative capacity while fostering community and campus partnerships. Prior to this role, she held the role of Assistant Director/Title IX Coordinator for the University of Central Florida’s Office of Institutional Equity overseeing/conducting investigations, training, monitoring compliance and helping to facilitate supportive measures and pregnancy related accommodations. Amber responded to inquiries where she provided community members with resources, explanations of their rights and options and conducted investigations as a Title IX Investigator with a focus on complaints related to sex-based misconduct, discrimination, and retaliation that involved students, staff and faculty. Amber’s work also included conducting climate checks, collecting and monitoring data in response to reporting and auditing.

Before her work with Title IX, Amber also served as a law enforcement officer at the university, including her assignment as a Detective, with a focus on sexual misconduct investigations employing the FETI technique. In addition to these roles, she was a Field Training Officer and a Crisis Intervention Officer/Coordinator, which focused on the recognition of persons who may be experiencing or in crisis, utilization of de-escalation strategies, and identification of additional resources and referrals for the individual.

Amber received her master’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Florida. She also received a second bachelor’s degree in anthropology and is a member of the Lambda Alpha National Anthropology Honor Society, describing herself as a “lifelong learner, always wanting to learn more”.
