Grand River Solutions is excited to welcome Joseph Storch, one of the nation’s leading voices on the Clery Act, Title IX, student affairs, and due/fair process as its new Senior Director of Compliance and Innovation Solutions. In his new role, Joe will split his time between direct service for existing and new Grand River Solutions clients, and working to develop programs and solutions to compliance, response, and prevention challenges, to help institutions better serve their communities.

Co-Founder and Managing Director Jody Shipper said, “This is an exciting time for Grand River Solutions and our clients, as Joe’s expertise and strong experience in crafting innovative platforms will enable us to elevate our solutions—helping schools to firmly move the needle on creating more equitable communities for all.”

Joe comes to Grand River from SUNY, where he served as Associate Counsel as well as Principal Investigator on over $20 million in grants, program revenue, and charitable donations in just the last five years. Joe founded the Center for Advanced Research in Reducing the Impact of Violence in Education (ARRIVE Center) and oversaw its programs and staff. He founded and oversaw the SUNY Student Conduct Institute, which offers compliance and best practice training annually to thousands of higher education professionals engaged in response to violence and conduct violations. In 2016, he founded the SUNY’s Got Your Back program which has provided over 125,000 comfort bags to victims and survivors of violence, while educating tens of thousands of students and community members. He served as Principal Investigator of the Biennial SUNY Uniform Campus Climate Survey, one of the largest such surveys in the nation, of the SPARC prevention and RAPID response online training programs, and of the SPECTRUM conference, the nation’s largest gathering addressing violence against members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Storch said, “I am grateful to all my colleagues at SUNY and across higher ed for the work we have been able to do together; and I am incredibly excited to work with Jody, Cherie, Cassio, and the whole Grand River Solutions team. I look forward to getting to know Grand River clients and partners across the country.”

Joe has provided nearly 700 digital and live conference presentations and training sessions to tens of thousands of higher education professionals in 30 U.S. states. He has twice served as an expert witness before the United States Senate (Armed Services, 2019; Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions, 2016). In 2015, Joe served as a technical adviser to New York’s Office of the Governor, developing comprehensive legislation enacted in July 2015 as Article 129-B of the Education Law (also called “Enough is Enough”) and has since served as principal author on guidance issued to implement that law.

We look forward to welcoming Joe to Grand River Solutions in October!
